21 Jun 2004Father's Day
So whilst Jo and I got Dad (hopefully not being typhooned in Japan at the minute) the LOTR DVD trilogy, I was still hoping for an XBox off Dom. Apparently, Helen was up for buying me one but Dom talked her out of it suggesting that what I really wanted was pants. Deluxe pants, I'll grant you, but not that exciting. Also, the only thing Dominic's ever said to me has been along the lines of gurgle gurgle wheeee woot hmmm, so I have to admit to some doubts about the mother-son understanding.
To his credit, I think Dom sensed my (faint) disappointment and decided to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Ever the showman, first he teased us and his Nan with his will-I-won't-I roll over routine. Then we decamped (briefly) to Gingatopia, where he continued to be defeated by his own trailing arm. Finally, safely home, and with a more substantial rug to cling to for that last piece of leverage, he managed the full 180 degree turn and celebrated by gurgling and slobbering everywhere. His Mum cried and I forgave him for the whole pants thing.
Life is good. Very good.
Three cheers for Dom; hip hip...HURRAY, etc., etc., etc.
There was never any doubt that he was gonna manage the flip. I bet Mum wasn't the only one to shed a tear though, was she Jim? Be honest!
