Weaning

Popup picPopup picBefore and after. Following a few nights on the run with Dom uncharacteristically waking up hungry, we decided to try the little man on 'solid' (well, 'sloppy') food.*

For the record, his first meal was baby rice but he's since tucked in to some of Helen's pureed carrots which he seemed to prefer (that's not my boy?). In a fit of super-efficiency we now have a freezer half-full of ice-cube trays of apple, carrot, pear, sweet-potato, parsnip and butternut squash. First, I lost the dedicated beer-fridge to make way for the tumble-dryer for his nappies; now space ear-marked for meat-pies is being turned over to mushed veggies. He's pushing it, I tell you.

He seems not to mind the food itself but takes exception to the spoon, as expressed by a satisfyingly broad range of comedy gold expressions. After weeks of crowd-pleasing cheesey smiles it seems we're finally back in with a shot at the You've Been Framed £250 without having to 'accidentally' shove him backwards down a slide.

*I'd like to make it clear that in no way is this diet any sort of deliberate attempt to build him up to a fighting weight following inferences from the ginger corner that Evie could 'have' Dominic. Besides, after an ill-advised bath-sharing experiment I can report that Dominic can inflict pain out of all proportion to his flyweight frame.

The question that everyone must want to ask though, is, "When does the boy begin on the pureed meat products?" Is Dominic showing any interest - yet - in ARJones porkingtons pork pie products?

And, the last time we saw Dominic, it looked very much like he was weighing in at 'middleweight' at the very least - the little bruiser.
