Friday Down to Bristol for Dominic's first ever ramble - the traditional Good Friday walk from Oldland Common up to Hanging Hill via Upton Cheney and returning via Beach (Map). Having panicked as we left murky Yorkshire on Thursday evening that we'd forgotten to pack Dom's snowsuit and thus duly dispatched Jo to borrow some clothing from the Wilko's, in the event the little man nearly cooked on the way up.
Saturday Great Grandad #2, on being told that Dominic was going to pay for his taxi home from Jo's, lived up to his uberwassock billing by coining the new hit ditty "Dominic, Dominic, he's my friend." He was also, I suspect, much used as a distraction during the inevitable game of dice, with a highly dubious number of Yahtzee's being recorded.
Sunday We all attended the Easter Day service at North Common Methodist Church, which is where Jo and I were christened - after the service we removed the cradle roll from the wall to find our fading names tucked beneath the more recent entries. This was to be the last ever service at the chapel before a local reorganisation which meant new (possibly brand new, in fact) premises and a merger with other local churches.
From there we headed over to Weston-super-Mud Mare to meet the remaining set of Great Grandparents, my Nan and Bampi. We headed for the pier rather than Jill Dando's garden, which proved to be a mistake as a chill wind was whipping across the front. Dom was thus largely unimpressed by his first visit to the seaside, although transfixed by the 'seaside tat' windmill that his Nan bought him.
From there, we had a brief stop at the new Thomas family country residence - so entirely up to our standards that we've agreed to grace them with our presence again for Byootiful Kate's wedding in June - and then home.
Having been the centre of attention of so many for so long, the little man took a while to readjust back to the quiet of home but has just managed two consecutive eight-hour sleeps. Life is very good. (All the Easter photo's are here).
